Jedi Power Battles came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by LucasArts. It was part of that early wave of GBA titles that tried to bring console-style action to a handheld, with all the compromises that entailed. The game is a side-scrolling beat 'em up set during the events of The Phantom Menace, letting you step into the boots of a Jedi Knight.
You control either Qui-Gon Jinn or Mace Windu, moving screen by screen through levels inspired by locations from the film. Your main goal is to fight through droids, destroy droidekas, and occasionally face off against bosses like Darth Maul. Key mechanics include deflecting blaster bolts with your lightsaber, using Force powers like Push and Jump to solve environmental puzzles, and collecting health and Force power-ups along the way. The pacing is fast, though the platforming can feel imprecise, and the difficulty spikes noticeably in later stages. It feels like a condensed, sometimes janky interpretation of Jedi combat, but pulling off a perfect deflect string or clearing a tough room remains satisfying.
