The game takes place between Episode II and III, letting you step into Anakin Skywalker's boots during a time when he's still a Jedi Knight, not yet Vader.

You control Anakin through a series of side-scrolling levels, using your lightsaber to deflect blaster fire and cut down battle droids. The main goal is to stop a new droid army from overwhelming the Republic, which means fighting through enemy bases, freeing captured clones, and occasionally piloting vehicles in short shooting segments. The action is fast and sometimes repetitive, with enemies swarming in from both sides of the screen.
