Starglider Disk 2 came out for the Amiga in 1986, published by Rainbird Software. It was one of those early polygonal 3D games that really showed off what the platform could do, with smooth vector graphics and a sense of speed that felt fresh at the time. The game built on the original Starglider, offering more of the same tense, cockpit-based action but with new missions and challenges.

You pilot an AGAV, a nimble aircraft equipped with shields, a plasma drive, and homing missiles. Your goal is to seek out and destroy Egron ships, which are often disguised as innocent structures or terrain. The game plays out across a large, open landscape that you explore screen by screen, hunting for targets while managing your energy and shields. You can visit repair depots to rearm and recover, but the enemy waves get progressively tougher, demanding quick reflexes and careful resource management. It feels intense and immersive, especially when you’re low on energy and desperately searching for a safe place to land.
