Play Stormlord Online
Take control of the Stormlord, rescue fairies, swing your sword at weird enemies, hop between platforms, and fly on an eagle to blast dragons in this action platformer from 1990.
Stormlord came out for the Sega Genesis in 1990, developed by Hewson Consultants. It was part of that early wave of action platformers on the system, where developers were still figuring out how to push the hardware, often resulting in games that felt ambitious but a little rough around the edges.
You control the Stormlord, a winged hero tasked with rescuing enchanted fairies imprisoned across a hazardous fantasy world. The game plays out screen by screen, with you swinging your sword at strange enemies like carnivorous plants and hopping between platforms while avoiding environmental dangers like acid rain. One of its signature mechanics is the way it shifts perspectives; you'll be exploring on foot one moment, then take to the skies on an eagle for shooter-style sections where you blast dragons out of the air. The pacing is uneven and the difficulty can spike without warning, but the sheer variety of actions keeps you pushing forward. It feels unpredictable and a little messy, but there's a strange charm in how boldly it mixes ideas.
