Game Overview

Okay, so Strategist is this obscure Famicom war game that feels like someone crossed chess with a military manual. You’ve got these little square units—infantry, tanks, the usual—moving across a grid map, and every decision matters way more than you’d expect from an 8-bit game. At first glance, it looks basic, but then you realize positioning is everything, and suddenly you’re sweating over whether to push forward or hold that bridge.

It’s unlicensed, which explains why the graphics are… let’s say "functional." But there’s something weirdly addictive about how stripped-down it is—no tutorials, no hand-holding, just you and your ability to outthink the AI. I lost my first three matches before I figured out how to properly use artillery. If you’re into old-school strategy where every mistake costs you, this one’s a time capsule worth digging up.

Fair warning: the music loops endlessly, so maybe mute it and put on your own soundtrack.
