Play Street Smart (Japan, USA) Online
Battle through urban stages as a street fighter, taking down groups of thugs and using objects as weapons to clear each area.
Street Smart came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, published by SNK. It was part of that early wave of fighting games trying to find their footing before the genre really exploded. The game has a rough, almost experimental feel, fitting right in with a lot of titles from that period that were still figuring out what worked.
You control one of two street fighters, moving through urban stages one screen at a time, beating up groups of thugs. Your main goal is to clear each area of enemies before moving on to the next. Signature mechanics include throwing opponents clear across the screen and using environmental objects, like trash cans, as weapons. The pacing is fast and chaotic, with difficulty that feels unpredictable and sometimes cheap. Playing it feels like wrestling with a game that never quite does what you expect, but somehow keeps you coming back.
