Game Overview

Summon Night: Craft Sword Monogatari 2 is one of those GBA games that somehow flew under the radar, which is a shame because it’s got this weirdly satisfying loop of smashing monsters and then rushing back to your workshop to turn their parts into better swords. At first, I thought it’d just be a simple hack-and-slash, but there’s something oddly zen about tweaking blade lengths and materials until you’ve got something that absolutely shreds through enemies.

The world’s small but packed with little secrets—like, you’ll stumble into a cave and suddenly there’s a whole side quest about helping a sentient sword remember its past. And the allies? They’re all weirdos in the best way, from a grumpy blacksmith spirit to a warrior who fights with a literal anchor. Combat’s snappy, but the real time-sink is when you start obsessing over weapon stats. I may or may not have spent an hour grinding just to make a flame greatsword with perfect balance.

It’s got that old-school handheld charm where everything feels just a little rough around the edges, but in a way that makes it more endearing. If you’ve ever wanted a portable action RPG where crafting actually matters, this is your jam.
