Super Army War is one of those classic GBA shooters that nails the simple-but-addictive formula. You start off picking between two aircraft—a Huey helicopter that feels slow but can actually land to rescue troops (which is way cooler than it sounds), or a zippy WWII fighter that shreds enemies faster but can’t stop moving. The first few missions throw tanks and enemy choppers at you while you weave through trenches and bunkers, and it’s surprisingly tense when you realize you’ve got to protect your own ground units too.

What I like is how the missions mix things up—sometimes you’re blowing up everything in sight, other times you’re sneaking in to capture bases for upgrades. The propeller fighter’s speed makes dodging bullets feel slick, but the Huey’s troop rescues add this weirdly satisfying strategy layer. By mission 5 or so, you’re unlocking flamethrowers and missile pods, which… yeah, they absolutely wreck enemy bunkers. Just don’t get too cocky—those later levels get brutal.
