Super Baseball 2020 is one of those weird, over-the-top Genesis sports games that somehow works. It’s like someone took regular baseball, cranked the speed to 11, and threw in robots, jetpacks, and cybernetic upgrades just for fun.
You pick from 12 wild characters—some human, some straight-up machines—and then it’s basically baseball with power-ups. Pull off a crazy catch or a home run, and you earn credits to boost your team mid-game. I always went for the arm cannon upgrade because, well, firing lasers at the ball never gets old.
The whole thing has this bizarre corporate conspiracy storyline too, like the league’s rigged by some shady computer system. Feels like playing a Saturday morning cartoon version of Blade Runner meets MLB. The stadiums are neon-drenched, the announcer’s voice is hilariously intense, and yeah, you can bunt so hard the ball explodes. It’s ridiculous in the best way.
Just don’t expect anything realistic—this is baseball if baseball had zero chill.
