Super Dodge Ball Advance came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, developed by Millennium Interactive Ltd. It was part of that early GBA wave where developers were still figuring out how to translate arcade-style action onto a handheld screen, and this one captured the frantic energy of its arcade and NES predecessors pretty well.
You control a team of dodgeball players, moving your character around a small court to pick up the ball, then aiming and throwing it at opponents to knock them out. The main goal is to eliminate every player on the opposing team before they do the same to you. Signature mechanics include special throws, like flaming or curveball shots, which you charge up for extra power, and team combo attacks where your teammates catch and quickly return the ball for you. Matches are fast and often unpredictable, with the AI putting up a tough, aggressive fight that keeps you on your toes. It feels like controlled chaos, where a single well-timed throw can completely turn the match around.
