Play Super Metroid - New Zebes (easy mode) Online
Same eerie alien world, but now you won’t get wrecked hunting for that one missile upgrade—health drops more often, bosses hit softer, and you can actually enjoy the atmosphere without rage-quitting. Still feels like Metroid, just less brutal.

Super Metroid came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of those games that really showed what the SNES could do with its moody atmosphere and intricate level design, standing out even among other great titles from that era.
You play as Samus Aran, a bounty hunter exploring the alien planet Zebes. Your main goal is to stop the Space Pirates from weaponizing a stolen Metroid creature. The game revolves heavily around exploration, where you move screen by screen through interconnected environments, collecting upgrades like the Morph Ball to roll into small passages or the Grappling Beam to swing across gaps. The pacing is deliberate, encouraging careful observation and backtracking as new abilities open up previously inaccessible areas. In this easy mode version, enemy attacks are less punishing and health pickups appear more frequently, making the experience far less frustrating while preserving the sense of isolation and discovery. It feels like finally being able to soak in the tension and detail of the world without constantly worrying about survival.
