Super Metroid came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed and published by Nintendo. You control Samus Aran, a bounty hunter exploring the alien planet Zebes. Your goal is to defeat the game's major bosses in reverse sequence, starting with the most difficult ones, while intentionally skipping nearly all of the usual power-ups. This requires exploiting glitches, performing extremely precise jumps, and using enemy attacks to damage yourself in order to open certain doors. The pacing is tense and unforgiving; one small mistake can mean starting a long section over. It feels like breaking the game's own rules just to see how much punishment you can take and still come out on top.
