Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 is one of those GBA games that makes you feel like you're directing your own mecha anime. You take control of a squad of pilots and their giant robots, squaring off against alien invaders and rogue factions in turn-based tactical battles. The first thing you'll notice is how slick the animations are compared to the first game—when your mech unleashes a beam saber or a barrage of missiles, it actually feels weighty and satisfying.

What I love is how each pilot has their own personality, both in story scenes and in combat. Some are reckless brawlers, others are calculating snipers, and they all have special "spirit commands" that can turn the tide of battle. Mess up your positioning, though, and the AI will punish you—it's way smarter here than in the original. The new chain attacks are a game-changer, letting you cleave through multiple enemies if you line things up just right.

The story dives straight into the aftermath of the first game, with new threats emerging before anyone's had time to catch their breath. You'll recognize returning characters, but the Einsts and Inspectors add some fresh (and weird) antagonists to the mix. Just be ready for some seriously cheesy dialogue—it's all part of the charm.

If you're into tactical RPGs with flashy combat and a ton of customization, this one's a blast. The sprite work still holds up, and there's something deeply satisfying about watching your upgraded mechs obliterate entire squads in a single turn.
