Super Skidmarks came out for the Sega Genesis in 1995, published by Acclaim Entertainment. You control a top-down racing car across a variety of off-road tracks, trying to finish first while avoiding obstacles like rocks, puddles, and wandering livestock. The main objective is straightforward: win races, earn points, and unlock faster vehicles. Signature mechanics include the ability to lay down different types of skid marks (oil slicks, glue, even rainbows) to trip up opponents, and the split-screen mode that allows two players to race simultaneously without a multitap. The pacing is fast and the handling is intentionally slippery, making every sharp turn a calculated risk. It feels chaotic and silly in the best way, especially when you send a friend spinning off the track with a well-timed oil spill.
