Game Overview

Ever played a game where you're handed a scalpel and told to perform surgery with zero medical training? That's Surgeon, The in a nutshell. You start off staring at a patient on the table, a bunch of weird tools at your disposal, and absolutely no idea what you're doing. The controls are clunky in that classic Amiga way—clicking around feels like you're wrestling with the mouse—but somehow that just makes it funnier when you accidentally remove the wrong organ.

First time I played, I think I gave the poor guy three heart transplants before realizing I was supposed to be fixing his appendix. The game doesn’t hold your hand, so you’ll be poking around, trying to figure out which tool does what while the patient’s vitals slowly crash. Mess up badly enough, and you get this hilariously dramatic "OPERATION FAILED" screen. It’s chaotic, janky, and weirdly addictive once you get the hang of it.

If you’re into old-school games that don’t take themselves too seriously, this one’s a gem—just maybe don’t use it as a reference for actual surgery.
