You play as a tiny surgeon scraping tar off a guy’s uvula while dodging rogue teeth and nanobots—somehow this is an actual SNES game. The controls fight you almost as much as the phlegm missiles do.
Rex Ronan is one of those weird, hyper-specific SNES games that makes you go, "Wait, what?" You play as a surgeon shrunk down to clean tar out of a tobacco exec’s lungs—which, yeah, is darkly hilarious. The first level drops you straight into his mouth, dodging teeth and scrubbing gunk off his uvula like some kind of biomedical janitor.
It’s part platformer, part shooter, with these janky little nanobots trying to stop you. The collision detection is… let’s say "optimistic," so you’ll miss jumps because your hitbox apparently includes your entire aura. Between levels, you get these surreal first-person segments where you’re flying through veins while phlegm missiles come at you like a bad arcade shooter.
Oh, and there are trivia mines. Seriously. Answer a smoking myth wrong, and they explode in your face. The whole thing feels like an anti-tobacco PSA got mixed with a B-movie script and then turned into a video game by someone who’d just watched Fantastic Voyage on VHS. It’s bizarre, kind of frustrating, and weirdly compelling.
