So Tecmo Cup is this weirdly deep NES soccer RPG where you play as Robin Field – yeah, that's his actual name – a kid trying to become the world's best player. His dad used to be a pro, so you get these little training sessions between matches that actually matter. Started off just playing local teams, but once you make it to the "Tops" league, things get serious.

What's cool is how much control you have during matches. When you're on offense, it's not just mindless button mashing – you actually choose between passing, dribbling, or taking a shot, and each one feels different. Defense is just as tactical, where timing a tackle wrong can leave you totally exposed. The RPG stuff sneaks up on you too – your players slowly improve if you use them right, and suddenly that midfielder who couldn't pass to save his life starts threading perfect through balls.
