Tekken 2 on NES is one of those weird bootleg ports that makes you wonder how it even exists. The sprites are blocky, the controls feel stiff, and the whole thing runs at about half the speed it should. You pick from a handful of fighters—each with maybe two or three moves that actually work—and mash buttons until someone falls over.

I remember trying to pull off a simple combo and just getting stuck in this awkward animation loop. The AI either stands there doing nothing or suddenly spams the same move over and over. It’s janky, but there’s something oddly charming about seeing a stripped-down version of Tekken 2 running on hardware that was never meant for it.

If you go in expecting anything close to the arcade version, you’ll be disappointed. But as a curiosity, it’s kind of fascinating in a trainwreck sort of way.
