I picked up The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends for the Sega Genesis back in 1992, a game developed by Imagineering Inc. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt pretty common at the time, trying to capture the spirit of a cartoon in 16-bit form. The look and sound did a decent job of bringing the show's characters to life, even if the gameplay had its own ideas.

You control either Rocky or Bullwinkle, switching between them to use their specific skills. Rocky flies short distances to cross gaps, while Bullwinkle throws bombs to break obstacles and hit enemies. The goal is to stop Boris and Natasha across several levels, each broken into smaller screens you move through one by one. You collect acorns for points and extra lives, and the pacing is slow, with some awkward jumps and enemy patterns that can feel cheap. It captures the cartoon's humor in its scenarios, but actually playing it is a clunky, sometimes frustrating experience.
