Game Overview

I picked up The Ant Bully for the Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a time when licensed movie games were everywhere on handhelds. Midway published it, and it was one of those titles that tried to capture the feel of the film on a small screen. It didn't redefine the platform, but it offered a solid adventure for anyone who enjoyed the story or just wanted something new to play on their GBA.

You control Lucas, a boy who has been magically shrunk to ant size and must prove himself to the colony. The main goal is to help the ants defend their nest from threats, mostly by completing various missions across the backyard. You explore screen by screen, using a peashooter to fight off enemies like wasps and spiders, and you also do a fair amount of collecting, gathering resources like leaves and dew drops for the colony. The pacing is straightforward, and the difficulty is manageable, though some sections require careful timing, especially when avoiding environmental hazards. It feels like a compact, mission based adventure that makes good use of its unusual perspective.
