I picked up The Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, a time when licensed platformers were everywhere. THQ published it, and it felt right at home among other cartoon-based games on the system. It wasn't trying to reinvent anything, just offering a straightforward adventure with characters I already knew from TV.

You control Timmy Turner, switching between him, Cosmo, and Wanda as you move through levels screen by screen. The main goal is to defeat the shadow versions of characters that have taken over Dimmsdale. Each character has their own attacks; Timmy uses a plunger or water balloon, Cosmo throws random objects, and Wanda fires magic blasts. You collect coins and defeat enemies to progress, with some light puzzle solving involving character switching. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty stays manageable without being too simple. It feels like a quick, cheerful run through an episode of the show.
