Game Overview

Remember that scene in The Lion King where little Simba pounces around singing "I Just Can't Wait to Be King"? Yeah, this game lets you live that—until everything goes horribly wrong, of course. You start off as a cub, bouncing on lizards' heads and practicing your roar (which takes forever to recharge, by the way). Then Scar happens, and suddenly you're exiled, growing up in the jungle, and eventually returning as a full-grown lion with way better combat moves.

The levels follow the movie pretty closely—pride lands, elephant graveyard, that terrifying stampede—but good luck getting past the second stage without throwing your controller. Adult Simba can slash enemies or even toss them off-screen, which feels awesome when you pull it off. Just don't expect any mercy: no saves, no continues. You die, you start over from "Circle of Life." It's brutal, but the animation and music are so spot-on you'll keep coming back anyway.

Also, hyenas are way more annoying here than in the film.
