You control John Connor, moving screen by screen through industrial zones and city streets. Your main goal is to survive long enough to stop Skynet, which means shooting endless waves of enemies and dodging their fire. The game uses a life bar instead of one-hit deaths, which helps a little with the stiff controls. You collect power-ups for better weapons, but ammo is always scarce. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is high, typical for games of that era. It feels tense and unforgiving, a real test of patience and reflexes.
