Game Overview

Tiger-Heli came out for the NES in 1985, developed by Toaplan. It was one of those early shooters that felt right at home on the system, sitting alongside other straightforward action titles that didn't need a story to pull you in. You just turned it on and got to work.

You pilot a small helicopter, moving it left and right while scrolling automatically upward. Your main goal is to survive through each stage, destroying enemy tanks, jets, and turrets that pour in from all sides. You have a standard forward shot and a limited supply of screen-clearing bombs, which you'll need to use carefully during the densest attacks. Between enemy waves, you can pick up POWs by flying over them; rescuing enough in a stage gives you an extra life. The pace is relentless, and the difficulty spikes quickly, demanding sharp reflexes and smart bomb management. It feels tense and focused, especially when you slip through a narrow gap in the bullets.
