Jump between caveman times and robot-filled futures mid-level, dodging spears one second and lasers the next—NES platforming at its weirdest.
Time Zone (Japan) [En by KingMike v1.2] – NES
This one’s a weird little time-traveling platformer that never made it outside Japan until the fan translation. You start off in some caveman era, jumping over dinosaurs and dodging spears—then suddenly, bam, you're in a neon future with robots shooting lasers at you. The whiplash is kind of amazing.
Controls are tight, like a good Mega Man clone should be, but the real star is how each era completely changes the vibe. One minute you're platforming across ancient ruins, the next you're in a spaceship dodging electric traps. The music slaps too—that crunchy NES synth really goes hard in the future levels.
It’s tough, but not unfair. You’ll die a lot, but it always feels like your fault, not the game’s. If you’ve burned through the usual NES classics and want something fresh (but still feels right at home on the console), this is a great deep cut. The translation patch just makes it even better.
Seriously, where else are you gonna fight a samurai and a cyborg in the same game?
