Play Toxic Crusaders Online
Swing a radioactive mop through Tromaville, dodging mutant goons until the game suddenly throws you into a laser-shooting skateboard or a helicopter chase. Gets gloriously weird fast—one minute you're in a toxic funhouse, next you're brawling on an alien garbage planet.

I remember picking up Toxic Crusaders for the Sega Genesis back in 1992, published by Bandai. It was one of those licensed games that showed up during the console's peak, based on the Toxic Avenger cartoon, and it had a certain grimy charm that fit right in with the era's brawlers and platformers. You didn't see many games willing to be this openly silly and gross, and it stood out even if it wasn't a top-seller.
You play as Toxie, swinging your mop through side-scrolling levels filled with mutants and environmental hazards. The main goal is to rescue your kidnapped friends by clearing each stage of enemies, often culminating in a boss fight. Signature mechanics include picking up temporary power-ups, like a super spin attack or a radiation blast, and occasionally hopping into vehicles for shooter segments, such as a skateboard that fires lasers. The pacing is fast and chaotic, with enemies swarming from all directions, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels messy and unpredictable, but in a way that keeps you pushing forward just to see what absurd situation comes next.
