Uchuu no Kishi Tekkaman Blade came out on the Game Boy in 1992, developed by Sun L. It was one of those side scrolling action games that tried to capture the feel of the anime, back when portable games were mostly about quick bursts of play. You don't see many licensed games from that era hold up, but this one had its moments.

You control Tekkaman Blade, fighting through waves of alien enemies across several stages. The main goal is to clear each level and defeat the boss waiting at the end. A key mechanic is switching between close range lance attacks and a long range blaster, which adds some strategy to dealing with different enemy types. The game is fairly difficult, with enemy patterns that require memorization and tight platforming sections. It feels like a solid, if challenging, attempt to bring the hero's action to the small screen.
