Ultima V throws you right back into Britannia, but things have gone seriously sideways. Blackthorn’s taken over, twisting the virtues into something oppressive—now you’ll get executed for not being "virtuous" enough. The world feels heavier this time, with bigger towns, NPCs who actually sleep and go about their day, and objects you can interact with (yes, you can finally sit in a chair and it shows).
Combat’s still turn-based, but the dungeons use that classic first-person rosette-compass view, which somehow makes stumbling into a Shadowlord even more terrifying. Speaking of which, those guys just pop up in towns, turning everyone against you—one minute you’re chatting, the next, the baker’s trying to stab you. And good luck with the runes; hope you kept notes from Ultima IV.
They trimmed the classes down to four, but the spell system’s as fiddly as ever—good luck tracking down all those reagents. The Underworld’s a nightmare (in a good way), and good ol’ Lord British is… well, missing. It’s a darker, deeper Britannia than before, and you’ve got your work cut out for you.
