Play V-Rally Championship Edition Online
Pick a real rally car and feel the difference between dry tarmac and slippery snow—those little arrows before turns become your best friend fast. The AI drivers won’t outsmart you, but they’ll shove you into a ditch if you’re not paying attention.

V-Rally Championship Edition came out on the Game Boy in 1998, published by Infogrames. It was one of the few attempts to bring a 3D-style rally experience to the handheld, arriving at a time when most portable racers were still top-down or side-scrolling affairs. It felt ambitious for the hardware, trying to capture the feel of its bigger console cousins on a much smaller screen.
You control a rally driver, competing in a series of point-to-point stages against the clock and other cars. The main objective is to finish each stage with the best time to climb the championship standings. The game uses a first-person perspective, with the road scrolling toward you in a pseudo-3D style. You have to manage your car's gear changes manually and watch for directional arrows that warn you of upcoming sharp turns. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty comes from memorizing tracks and judging your speed on different surfaces like gravel or snow. It feels surprisingly immediate for a Game Boy racer, demanding your full attention on every corner.
