Game Overview

If you've ever wanted to feel like you're sliding through dirt roads on a tiny green Game Boy screen, V-Rally – Championship Edition nails that vibe. The controls are surprisingly responsive for a GBC racer—you can actually powerslide around tight corners without feeling like you're wrestling with the D-pad. I remember being skeptical at first, but after a few races, that "one more try" hook sunk in hard.

It's not as flashy as the console versions, but that's part of the charm. You get a handful of cars (the Subaru feels weirdly overpowered, by the way) and tracks that actually require memorizing turns instead of just flooring it. The pixelated dust clouds when you drift? Weirdly satisfying. This is the kind of game you play with the sound up just to hear that crunchy engine noise.

Definitely one of the better racing games on the system if you're into that old-school, no-frills arcade feel.
