Van Helsing came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Saffire and published by Vivendi Universal Games. It was part of that wave of licensed games from the era, trying to capture the look and feel of the Hugh Jackman film on the small screen. You got a lot of these action platformers back then, each one trying to stand out in a crowded field.
You control Van Helsing himself, moving through gothic locations to hunt down and destroy Dracula and his monstrous allies. The gameplay is built on screen by screen exploration, with a mix of melee combat using your sword and ranged attacks with an automatic crossbow. You collect relics to upgrade your weapons and health, and the pacing is fairly relentless, throwing waves of enemies like werewolves and vampires at you. The camera can be a bit awkward in tight spaces, but the sheer chaos of the combat makes it a satisfying, if sometimes messy, experience.
