Wanko de Kururin! Wancle came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, developed by Success. It was one of those quirky little puzzle games that felt right at home on the GBA, a system that had plenty of room for oddball ideas alongside the bigger franchises. You don't see many games built entirely around spinning a character like a top, but that's exactly what this one does.
You control a cheerful, tail-wagging dog named Wancle who is stuck inside a large, rotating stick. By turning the stick with the D-pad, you roll him through a series of single-screen obstacle courses. The goal is simply to reach the exit of each stage without letting Wancle's head or tail bump into the walls or any hazards. The challenge comes from managing his momentum and his awkward, oblong hitbox, especially when navigating narrow passages or moving platforms. It starts out deceptively simple but quickly demands precise timing and careful planning. Getting through a tricky section without a single scrape feels like a genuine accomplishment, and the little celebration dance Wancle does just seals the deal. It's a game of constant, satisfying micro-adjustments.
