We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, published by Hi Tech Expressions. It was one of those many licensed games from the era, based on the animated film, and it fit right in with the platform-heavy library of the SNES. You don't hear much about it now, but it had its moment on the shelf next to the bigger names.
You control Rex, a friendly Tyrannosaurus, navigating side-scrolling levels to rescue his captured dinosaur friends. The main goal is to progress through each stage, headbutting enemies and avoiding environmental hazards. A couple of the game's mechanics involve calling on other dinosaurs you've freed; they can appear briefly to smash through certain walls or freeze enemies in place. The pacing is a bit slow, and the controls can feel stiff, making some jumps more awkward than they should be. It feels like a straightforward, slightly clunky platformer that relies on its movie connection for appeal.
