Play Whac-a-Critter Online
Smack critters as they pop up faster than you can blink—mess up and you'll lose points for hitting butterflies. Two-player mode turns it into a hilarious race to see who cracks under pressure first.
Whac-a-Critter is basically what happens if someone took the arcade whack-a-mole cabinet, fed it too much sugar, and then crammed it onto a Genesis cartridge. Instead of just moles, you’ve got raccoons, rabbits, and some weird little gremlin-looking things popping up everywhere—and they’re fast. You’ve got about half a second to react before they disappear, and if you accidentally whack a harmless butterfly or something, you lose points. It’s chaos, but the good kind.
The first time I played, I thought it’d be easy. Then the critters started popping up in patterns, the music got frantic, and suddenly I was sweating over pixelated animals. The two-player mode is where it really shines—nothing like watching your friend panic-swing at nothing while a smug raccoon taunts them from the corner.
It’s not deep, but it’s the perfect game for when you just want to smash things with a cartoon mallet for 15 minutes. Just don’t blame me when you start seeing critters in your peripheral vision afterward.
