Game Overview

If you've ever wanted to run a horse racing stable but don’t have the millions (or the hay allergies), Winning Post for GBA is the next best thing. You start with a modest stable and a handful of hopeful horses—some are born racers, others… well, let’s just say they’re better suited for leisurely trots. Breeding matters here—pick the right bloodlines, and you might end up with a champion; mess it up, and you’ll be stuck with a glorified plow horse.

The training system’s surprisingly deep for a GBA game. You’ll juggle workouts, jockey assignments, and race schedules, all while praying your star colt doesn’t pull up lame before the big derby. The races themselves are tense little pixelated affairs—you don’t control the horse directly, but watching your strategy play out as they round the final turn is weirdly gripping.

It’s definitely niche, but if you like management sims with actual stakes (and hooves), this one’s got way more going on than you’d expect from a Game Boy Advance cart. Just don’t blame me when you get emotionally attached to a digital horse named “Biscuit.”
