Wolfchild is one of those Genesis games that sticks with you—partly because of its weird, moody vibe, and partly because you spend half of it punching mutants as a guy who turns into a psychic wolf. Yeah, it’s as cool as it sounds.
You play as Saul, whose scientist dad got kidnapped after creating human-animal hybrids (bad guys really hate science). After his family’s murdered, Saul uses his dad’s research to morph into a wolf with a psychic blast attack—but only if you collect enough power-ups first. Screw up, take damage, and you’re back to being a regular dude throwing fists at mutants. Which, honestly, feels way more desperate.
The levels are these sprawling, eerie zones with CHIMERA goons everywhere, and the wolf form changes how you move and fight completely. It’s got that classic ‘90s action-platformer jank, but the transformation mechanic keeps things interesting. Just don’t expect the story to make much sense—it’s all about revenge, weird science, and a final showdown with a guy named Karl Draxx (because of course he is).
