Game Overview
Wolfchild is one of those weird, janky-but-cool Sega Master System games where you play as this dude who can suddenly turn into a werewolf mid-mission. Starts off as a standard run-and-gun shooter—you’re blasting through labs and jungles with a kinda stiff but satisfying pistol—but then you hit the transform button and suddenly you’re this hulking wolf monster tearing through enemies with claws. Feels overpowered at first until you realize the wolf form drains energy fast.
The levels scroll automatically, so you’re constantly pushed forward while jumping platforms and dodging Chimera’s goons. Some of the hit detection is… questionable (classic Master System), but there’s something oddly satisfying about the way the wolf pounces. Just don’t expect it to hold up against later Genesis titles—this is pure late-80s Euro-platformer weirdness. That final boss fight against the mutant Chimera leader? Absolute chaos in the best way.
