Rambo III on the Sega Master System is exactly what you'd expect—a side-scrolling shooter where you blast through Soviet troops as the one-man army himself. The controls are simple (run, jump, shoot), but those machine gun nests and helicopter ambushes will wreck you if you just charge in. I died like five times before realizing you actually have to duck behind cover sometimes, which feels weird for a Rambo game.
It follows the movie plot pretty closely—you start in Afghanistan rescuing Trautman, then work your way through caves and enemy bases. The sprite work’s decent for the Master System, though Rambo’s weirdly tiny compared to everything else. That bow and arrow super shot is satisfying when you finally line it up right.
Not gonna lie, it’s janky in that classic 8-bit way, but there’s something fun about mowing down entire armies with a single guy. Just don’t expect deep tactics.
