Play Rambo III on Msdos Online

Rambo III came out in 1989 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup from Ocean Software. It was a time when movie tie-ins were common, and this one tried to capture the over-the-top action of the film on home computers. You get a sense of that era just from the box art and the promise of a one-man war.

You control Rambo through a series of side-scrolling and top-down levels, moving screen by screen to rescue Colonel Trautman. Your main tools are a bow, explosives, and a knife for close encounters. The game shifts perspectives; one moment you're sneaking past guards in a fortress, the next you're in a turret section mowing down helicopters. The pacing is uneven, and the difficulty can be punishing, with limited continues and instant death from certain hits. Playing it feels like wrestling with an ambitious but stubborn piece of software that never quite does what you hope.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
