Play World Champ - Super Boxing Great Fight Online
Dodging punches feels heavy and deliberate—mistime a block and you’ll eat a combo, but land a clean counter and the crowd goes wild. Those later fights turn into tense chess matches where one slip costs you the round.

World Champ came out for the NES in 1990, published by Romstar. It was one of the many boxing games on the system, trying to carve out its own space in an era where sports sims were getting more complex. It didn't have the big name recognition of something like Punch-Out, but it had its own approach to the ring.
You control a boxer from a side view, working your way up through a ranking system to become the champion. The core of the game is reading your opponent's tells and timing your jabs, hooks, and uppercuts. You manage a stamina meter that depletes with every swing and block, forcing you to be strategic instead of just button mashing. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty ramps up significantly as you face faster, more aggressive opponents. It feels like a real test of patience and reaction.
