Worms Blast came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Team17. It was a strange but interesting spin-off during a time when the handheld was full of experiments and odd genre blends. Instead of the usual turn-based artillery fights, this one dropped the worms into a block-breaking puzzle game, which felt both familiar and completely new for the series.

You control a worm in a small boat, moving left and right at the bottom of the screen. Your main goal is to clear each stage by destroying all the colored blocks above you. You do this by firing weapons like bazookas and grenades at the blocks; timing and angle matter because missed shots can cause debris to fall and crush you. The game encourages setting up chain reactions and combos by carefully matching block colors. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty ramps up steadily as new block types and hazards are introduced. It feels satisfying to pull off a big combo and watch the screen clear, though a mistimed shot can lead to instant failure.
