Game Overview

WWE Survivor Series for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2004, developed by Natsume. It was one of the few wrestling titles on the handheld, arriving in an era where portable games were often simpler, scaled-down versions of their console counterparts. You pick a wrestler from the WWE roster of that time and work through a calendar of events, trying to build your reputation.

You control your chosen superstar in one-on-one or tag matches, using a basic combo system of weak and strong grapples, strikes, and special moves. The main goal is to win matches, earn fan approval, and eventually challenge for a championship belt. Two key mechanics include building your special meter by performing moves and taunting, and a momentum-based pinning system where you mash buttons to kick out. The pacing is fairly quick, though the AI can be unforgiving, leading to some frustrating losses. It feels like a stripped-down, sometimes clumsy interpretation of wrestling, but it gets the job done for a quick match on the go.
