Game Overview
X-Men 2: Clone Wars is that rare Genesis sequel that actually improves on the original—no awkward controls or weird hitboxes this time. You pick from six mutants (Wolverine, Gambit, Cyclops, etc.), each with their own moves and quirks. Nightcrawler’s teleport is clunky but hilarious when you accidentally warp into spikes, and Beast’s wall-climbing makes some stages way easier than they should be.
The levels are these sprawling, semi-open things where you hunt for keys or smash through Sentinels, and the music slaps way harder than it has any right to. That underwater stage with the distorted bassline? Chef’s kiss. Just don’t get too attached to your health bar—some of the later bosses hit like a truck.
It’s not perfect (why does Psylocke feel like she’s swinging a pool noodle?), but it’s probably the best X-Men game on the system.
