Play X-Men - Mutant Apocalypse (Japan) Online
Pick your X-Men and tear through Genosha—Wolverine shreds in close, Cyclops snipes from afar, and Gambit’s charged cards feel brutal when you nail the timing. Those Capcom sprites pop, and Magneto’s fight still makes my palms sweat.

X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that wave of solid licensed games that actually tried to capture the feel of the comics, rather than just cashing in on the name. You got to pick from five X-Men, each with their own dedicated stages, which was a pretty cool way to handle a team based game on the SNES.
You control one mutant at a time, like Wolverine or Cyclops, fighting through side scrolling stages filled with Sentinels and other enemies. The main goal is to stop the mutant hunting on Genosha, which involves beating a series of bosses, including Magneto. Key mechanics include character specific special moves, like Psylocke's psychic katana or Gambit's charged card throws, and navigating platform heavy environments that demand precise jumps. The pacing is fast and the difficulty is fairly high, especially during boss fights that require pattern recognition. It feels responsive and weighty, with each character's attacks having a distinct impact that makes mastering their styles rewarding.
