Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Duel Academy (EU) is one of those GBA games that feels like a proper card game simulator with just enough story to keep you going. You start as a new student at the academy, picking one of three starter decks that each play very differently. The first few duels are simple, but the AI ramps up fast, and soon you're scrambling to tweak your deck between classes.
I remember grinding for hours to get enough DP to buy a single decent card from the shop, only to lose it all in a bad duel against one of the tougher students. The dorm system adds a nice layer of progression, though—moving up from Slifer Red to Obelisk Blue actually feels like an achievement.
It's not perfect. The dialogue is cheesy, and some of the required duels can feel unfair if you don't have the right cards. But if you're into old-school Yu-Gi-Oh without the modern power creep, this one holds up surprisingly well.
