Draw lines to trap moving squares while avoiding monsters in this puzzle-action game for the Sega Genesis.
Zoom! came out for the Sega Genesis in 1988, developed by Discovery Software. It was one of those early puzzle-action hybrids that felt right at home on the system, sitting alongside simpler arcade-style games before the era of sprawling adventures took over. You don't hear much about it now, but it had a clear, focused idea.
You control a small character who must draw lines to completely enclose moving squares on each screen. Monsters patrol the area, and if one touches you or your unfinished line, you lose a life and restart the stage. Some stages include power-ups, like temporary speed boosts or a shield, which you often save for desperate moments. The game moves quickly, demanding sharp reflexes and careful planning, since a single mistake can undo your progress. It feels tense and satisfying when you finally seal a difficult section just ahead of an enemy.
