Game Overview

This GBA cartridge is basically two hunting games in one—Cabela's Big Game Hunter and Deer Hunt—which is great if you're into that classic early 2000s handheld vibe. It’s not exactly realistic, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about creeping through pixelated woods, waiting for a deer to pop up just long enough to take your shot.

The controls are simple (it is the GBA, after all), and the animals actually move in ways that make you think a little before firing. Big Game Hunter throws bears and moose at you, while Deer Hunt is exactly what it sounds like—just you, trees, and way too many bucks that somehow always spot you first. It’s janky in that nostalgic way, like if Duck Hunt had a slightly more serious cousin. If you still have a Game Boy lying around, it’s a fun little time capsule.
