Play Alien 3 (Japan) on gb Online

Creep through a prison as Ripley, motion tracker beeping faster as aliens stalk you—disarm bombs, grab keys, and try not to jump at that eerie chiptune theme. The Japanese version’s the way to go, less jank but just as tense.

Game Overview

Alien 3 on the Game Boy is one of those weird little adaptations that somehow works. You play as Ripley, sneaking through dimly lit prison corridors with a motion tracker that beeps faster as aliens close in—just like the movies. The sprites are tiny, but the tension is real.

It’s not all shooting, though. You’ll disarm bombs, rescue prisoners (who mostly just stand there waiting to die), and backtrack through mazes with keys. The Japanese version is the one to play—fewer cheap deaths, same creepy vibe. That chiptune version of the movie’s theme? Unsettlingly good for a Game Boy.

Definitely janky by modern standards, but if you’ve got a soft spot for licensed games that actually try, this one’s worth digging up.
