Alien vs. Predator came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed and published by Capcom. It was one of the later action games on the system, arriving when developers were really pushing what the hardware could do with detailed sprites and atmospheric effects. You control either a Colonial Marine or a Predator, moving screen by screen through a infested colony. Your main goal is to survive the onslaught, complete mission objectives, and ultimately purge the complex. The Marine relies on a limited arsenal of firearms with finite ammo, while the Predator uses melee weapons and stealth-based abilities like cloaking. The pacing is deliberate and tense; you clear one hazardous area at a time, always low on resources and listening for the skittering in the vents. It feels like a desperate, calculated fight for survival where every shot and every step matters.
