Altered Beast: Guardian of the Realms came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by 3d6 Games and published by THQ. You control a warrior resurrected by Zeus, moving screen by screen through mythological settings. Your goal is to defeat enemies and gather spirit orbs; collecting enough transforms you into powerful beasts like a werewolf or dragon, each with unique attacks. Combat relies on straightforward punches and kicks, with occasional projectile abilities. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can feel uneven, especially during boss encounters. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes clunky extension of the arcade original, satisfying when the transformations kick in but rarely surprising.
